The Russian champions" 0-0 draw at home to Dynamo Kiev in the last round of games means that they have to put in another performance like the one that brought them a famous 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Nou Camp in October to claim one of Group F"s top two places.

A higher-scoring draw than 0-0 or 1-1 would also put them into the next round if Dynamo fail to beat Barcelona in the Ukrainian capital.

"It"s the first time we have had to prepare a very important game like this in December and it"s not easy," Rubin trainer Kurban Berdyev said before the game. "The Russian league has ended and we are very tired, both physically and psychologically."

"Even if we don"t go through this has been an incredible experience for us. It was amazing to beat Barcelona and of course we want to qualify, but even if we don"t we will remember this campaign as a wonderful experience."

Rubin will be without two key players - defender Roman Sharonov and forward Alexander Bukharov,
