"The Russian president has charged the emergency minister to send humanitarian aid to Chile which was severely damaged by the earthquake," a Kremlin spokesperson said.
He said two airplanes will be sent to Chile with warm clothing, tents, electrical generators and other needed items.
A large earthquake rating a magnitude of 8.8 occurred off the coast of Chile on February 27. According to the latest estimates, the earthquake killed at least 700 people and many are still missing.
According to the country"s president, Michelle Bachelet, some 2 million Chileans were left homeless and 1.5 million houses were damaged by the quake.
